1. Information We Collect

When you create a ShowHive account we collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, and the streaming services you select. We also collect usage data such as search queries, watchlist activity, and feature interactions to improve your experience.

We do not collect data from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will promptly delete it.

2. Bank Account Data (Plaid)

ShowHive offers an optional feature that connects to your bank account through Plaid, Inc. to automatically detect streaming subscription charges. When you choose to connect your bank:

• Plaid accesses your recent transaction history solely to identify recurring streaming service charges.
• ShowHive never receives your bank login credentials. Plaid handles authentication directly with your financial institution.
• The access token that Plaid provides to ShowHive is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM encryption and is never stored in plaintext.
• You can disconnect your bank account at any time from your Profile page. When you disconnect, the encrypted access token is immediately revoked and all detected subscription data is removed.

Plaid's use of your data is governed by the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.

3. Payment Data (Stripe)

All payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. ShowHive never receives, processes, or stores your full credit card number. We only receive a confirmation of payment status and basic card metadata (last four digits, card brand, expiration) for display in your account. Stripe's handling of your payment data is governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy.

4. How We Use Your Data

• Personalizing streaming availability results based on your subscriptions.
• Detecting subscriptions via Plaid to keep your service list accurate.
• Sending alerts for expiring content, new availability, and price changes.
• Improving ShowHive's features and user experience.
• Communicating with you about your account and service updates.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We share data only with the following service providers who act as data processors on our behalf:

• Plaid, Inc. — for bank account connectivity and transaction data (only if you opt in).
• Stripe, Inc. — for payment processing.
• NeonDB / hosting providers — for secure database storage.

We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of our users.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated personal data is permanently removed, including encrypted Plaid tokens and detected subscription records. Disconnecting your bank via Plaid immediately revokes the access token and removes detected subscription data without requiring full account deletion.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data. All data is encrypted in transit via TLS. Plaid access tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM. We regularly review our security practices and limit access to personal data to authorized personnel only.

8. Your Rights

You may access, update, or delete your personal data at any time through your Profile settings. You may also disconnect your bank account or cancel your subscription at any time. To request a full data export or account deletion, contact us at the address below.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice. Your continued use of ShowHive after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
